Dear AHRMA Members,

What a thrilling 2019 it has been for me as President of the Austin Human Resources Management Association. I cannot believe that it is actually the end of the year. I am so proud of the work that AHRMA has done during this year of pushing for progress.

Under the leadership of this year’s Board of Directors we have been growing our organization and its reach which also means growing our profession. We have continued our history of programming that works, changed how our membership joins and stays a part of our organization and most importantly embarked upon an inaugural journey to create a more exciting relationship with our national home organization SHRM that mirrors how we create better workplaces to create a better world.

By all standards it has been a successful year busting membership goals, soaring attendance at events, and a wonderfully inclusive conference that people are still talking about.  AHRMA looks and feels different and I am most proud of that for our organization.  But as we know so well, all good things must come to an end and with that last thought…

The Austin Human Resource Management Association (AHRMA) is excited to introduce our 2020 President, Lisa Blanton. Lisa Blanton possesses a diverse business background that includes over 30 years in corporate positions such as COO, CFO, and CHRO; including 13 years as a business owner. She has been an active member of AHRMA for five years and has served on the Board of Directors of the 900+ member association as the Treasurer, Co-VP of Conference, and President-Elect. She also holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) in addition to having an MBA in Organizational Studies.

Lisa has a proven track record of helping leaders drive for high achieving results through strategy, integration and people relationships with a focus on financial, people service, and enterprising aspects of a business. Her career is filled with success stories of assisting entrepreneurs build the business functions of operations, finance, accounting, and human resources while they concentrate on the development of their product or service. She is passionate about guiding leadership teams to successfully build their organizations and provide the best environment and culture for their employees.

In her free time, Lisa enjoys cheering for the Texas A&M University sports teams, traveling, and meeting new friends. Her core values are help first, do the right thing, grow or die, and be humbly confident.

Lisa’s life motto is Be Curious, Be Courageous, Be Bold, and then Belong.

In June of 2014, Lisa and her husband decided to start a new life. Moving to Austin from the San Fransisco Bay area, they had no family or friends in Texas. Lisa started looking for a way to utilize her desire to help people, connect, and grow. An AHRMA position opened up for Treasurer – she applied. BE CURIOUS.

Lisa was offered and accepted the Treasurer position within 90 days of arriving in Texas. She didn’t know anyone but knew she needed to step out and BE COURAGEOUS. AHRMA allowed that opportunity.

Lisa joined AHRMA before signing a lease agreement on a home and quickly found a way to get plugged in. She joined AHRMA and was award Treasurer position within 90 days of moving to Texas. BE BOLD.

With her core help first mindset, she was able to meet her closest friends and build a healthy network of other HR professionals. Lisa has since made many contacts through AHRMA that have allowed her to find employers, employees, and purchase a HR Consulting company. BELONG.

I belong in AHRMA. I belong in Austin. I belong in Human Resources. I belong in Texas SHRM.

We look forward to Lisa’s leadership and welcome her as our new President!
