Austin SHRM’s HR Excellence Awards are here! We're thrilled to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations who support the HR profession. It's your time to shine as we urge you to nominate your exceptional colleague(s) for their stellar performance in both HR, their organization and through sponsorship. Let the excitement begin!

Nomination Requirements:

  • Award nominees must preferably be based in the Central Texas area.
  • Previous award winners are not eligible for nomination in the same category.
  • Nominees must be an Austin SHRM member or a member of a Texas SHRM affiliate chapter.
  • Nominees may not be nominated in more than two (2) different categories. Nominees entered into more than one category, if selected, are only eligible to win one (1) award.
  • The completion of a Nomination Form is required for each award category.
  • Nominations can be submitted by colleagues, peers, supervisors, or community members who can provide insights into the nominee's dedication and impact in the HR profession or HR community.
  • Self-nomination is allowed and encouraged.
  • All submissions must be completed in its entirety. Failure to submit a completed Nomination Form may result in entry disqualification.
HR Excellence Awards Timeline:
  • Nominations Open: Friday, March 15, 2024
  • Nominations Deadline: Tuesday, April 30, 2024
  • Recipients Notified By: Monday, July 1, 2024
  • Recipients Recognition: Thursday, August 1, 2024 (pre-Conference Cocktail Party)

HR Lifetime Achievement Award

The HR Lifetime Achievement Award aims to recognize and honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication in the field of Human Resources throughout their illustrious career. This prestigious award acknowledges a lifetime of contributions that have positively impacted the HR profession and influenced the development of the workforce.

HR Lifetime Achievement Award criteria:

  • The nominee must have a minimum of 15 years of continuous service in the field of Human Resources with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • The nominee should have a proven track record of outstanding achievements and contributions to the HR profession, highlighting innovation, leadership, and strategic impact.
  • The nominee should have demonstrated commitment to the mentorship and development of HR professionals, fostering growth and excellence within the HR community.
  • The nominee should have HR professional credentials (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, etc.).

HR Executive Leader of the Year

The HR Executive Leader of the Year Award aims to honor and celebrate an exemplary Human Resources executive who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and a significant positive impact in the HR community, on their organization's workforce and overall HR function.

HR Executive Leader of the Year Award criteria:

  • The nominee must currently hold a senior-level Human Resources executive position within the organization, such as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Vice President of HR, or an equivalent role.
  • The nominee should have a minimum of 10 years of continuous service in HR executive roles.
  • The nominee must have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, guiding HR teams with strategic vision and effectively contributing to the organization's overall success.
  • The nominee should have implemented innovative HR strategies or initiatives that have positively impacted the organization's performance, culture, and employee engagement.
  • The nominee should have HR professional credentials (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, etc.).

HR Diversity Champion

The HR Diversity Champion Award aims to honor and celebrate an HR professional who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and leadership in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within the workplace and the HR community.

HR Diversity Champion Award criteria:

  • The nominee should have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the workplace and the HR community.
  • The nominee must have held leadership roles or actively participated in initiatives that promote DEIB within the HR function or the organization as a whole.
  • Evidence of measurable impact in improving diversity and inclusion metrics, such as workforce diversity, representation in leadership, or employee engagement.
  • The nominee should be able to highlight innovative and effective diversity and inclusion practices implemented within the organization or HR function.

Emerging HR Leader of the Year

The Emerging HR Leader of the Year Award aims to identify and celebrate rising stars in the field of Human Resources who have demonstrated exceptional promise, leadership, and contributions early in their careers.

Emerging HR Leader of the Year criteria:

  • The nominee should have a minimum of one (1) year but no more than five (5) years of professional experience in the field of Human Resources.
  • The nominee must be currently employed in an HR role, with a demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development.
  • The nominee must exhibit strong leadership potential, demonstrated through successful project management, team collaboration, or other leadership roles within the HR function.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, such as pursuing HR certifications, attending relevant workshops, or participating in industry associations.

HR Volunteer Leader of the Year

The HR Volunteer Leader of the Year Award aims to honor and celebrate an HR professional who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to volunteerism, making significant contributions to both the HR community and the broader society.

HR Volunteer Leader of the Year criteria:

  • The nominee should have actively participated in volunteer activities related to the HR profession.
  • Evidence of outreach and positive influence on individuals or groups within the HR community or the broader society.
  • Evidence of collaboration and partnership with other volunteers, organizations, or community groups to achieve shared goals.
  • Evidence of effective leadership in organizing, coordinating, or managing volunteer projects.

HR Sponsor of the Year

The HR Sponsor of the Year Award aims to honor and celebrate an HR professional or organization that has demonstrated exceptional commitment and effectiveness as a sponsor, actively supporting and advocating for the professional development and advancement of others in the HR field.

HR Sponsor of the Year criteria:

  • The nominee must have actively served as a sponsor for Austin SHRM or its members, contributing to increased or enhanced educational programs and services. 
  • The nominee must have sponsored at least two (2) Austin SHRM events, programs or services within the previous year.
