Position Description:
Performs senior-level complex work. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Oversees the development, administration, and monitoring of the City of Leander’s compensation, classification, and salary administration program. Ensures compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Serves as a consultant to departments regarding staffing needs and organizational structure. Work requires effective working relationships with all levels of City management and staff.
Job Duties and / or Responsibilities:
Organizational Excellence Support
- Conducts or assists with new employee orientations and exit conferences as needed.
- Implements or recommends changes to procedures and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provides back-up and assistance to other Organizational Excellence staff and programs to ensure continuity of operations during staff absences and peak periods.
- Assists with or develops, updates, and/or implements Organizational Excellence policies, procedures, processes, and forms.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Human Resources, Business or Public Administration, Management, Organizational Development, Communications, Social Sciences or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five years of applicable HR-related experience with extensive knowledge of job description development and compensation & classification.
OR:
- Minimum of nine years of a combination of education and full-time professional Human Resources experience that includes extensive experience with job description development and compensation & classification.
Required Certificates and Licenses
- HRCI, Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR, SPHR) OR Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP), OR Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) OR the ability to obtain one of these certifications within one year of hire.
- Valid Driver's License from any U.S. State. Must be able to obtain a Texas license within 90 days of hire, per state law.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a government entity such as a City, County, or State agency.
- Extensive experience managing compensation and classification programs for a government entity.
- Up-to-date working experience using NeoGov HR Software.
Salary: $86,860.80 - $99,886.80
