Membership Committee

The Membership Committee shall obtain applications and approve requests for membership in AHRMA and extend an official welcome to new members. The Committee recruits members and assists in the development of strategies for promoting membership in AHRMA and SHRM.

  • Increase membership value and member satisfaction through a wide variety of engagement opportunities.



  • Create learning, networking and volunteer opportunities to engage within the membership of AHRMA and our partner organizations

  • Re-gain Super-Mega (1000+ member chapter) status with SHRM while achieving 65% chapter member participation in SHRM

  • Develop PEG’s (Professional Emphasis Groups) which will enrich opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration among specialized HR Professionals

  • Support and drive fundraising efforts for the SHRM Foundation

Committee Volunteer Opportunities

  • New Member Orientation Team

    Team Leader:  Michele Walty

    Provide an opportunity to learn about the vast resources AHRMA has to offer. New members are welcomed every other month


  • SHRM Membership and Advocacy Team

    Promotes the value of SHRM membership and provides updated information and handouts and coordinates the SHRM table at all AHRMA events


  • PEG’S (Professional Emphasis Groups) NEW IN 2017

    Our Team will develop framework, organization, planning and execution of 2 new PEG Groups in 2016.  Focus will be on Senior HR Leadership and Non-Profit members


  • New Member Ambassadors Team

    Calls, emails and welcomes all new members as well as greeting and assisting with registration at all AHRMA events


  • Mixers and Networking event Team

    Assist in creating, organizing and publicizing events. Assist in procuring Sponsors


  • SHRM Foundation Team

    Team Leader:  Wendy Chance

    Organizes and assists in publicizing, promoting and fundraising for the Foundation. Will be responsible for obtaining donations and door prizes to support the Chapter goals


  • Volunteer Engagement Team

    Promotes the benefits of volunteerism among members. Coordinates member volunteer interests with each AHRMA committee and coordinates Volunteer Fair


  • Publicity and Marketing Team

    Share membership activities and events in the AHRMA newsletter, to outside partner organizations and via social media.  Will coordinate monthly updates of information to the AHRMA and Texas SHRM newsletter
